A Batalha das Limas, uma das mais populares tradições de Carnaval, em Ponta Delgada, ilha de São Miguel, voltou a reunir centenas de combatentes, de todas as idades, na Avenida Marginal da cidade.
Embora as limas tenham sido há muito substituídas por sacos plásticos a tradição continua a cumprir-se.
A batalha faz-se por grandes grupos que circulam em camiões mas também por muitos outros que em número reduzido ou mesmo individualmente também vão à luta.

The Batalha das Limas (Battle of the Limes), one of the most popular traditions of Carnival, in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel island, came together hundreds of fighters of all ages, on the main avenue of the city.
Although the limes have long been replaced by plastic bags the tradition continues to be fulfilled.
The battle is done by large groups moving in trucks but also by many others in small numbers or individually as well go for it. -
